Lifestyle With Flexible Packaging Film

For the establishment of an environment that supports sustainable form of living, one has to switch to minimal use of material and fuel, which is possible through cost cutting in transport and material packaging. Flexible packaging came up as an ultimate solution to the problems of rigid material packaging, and people moved from cans to pouches and from bottles to large pouches.

Flexible packaging is done through use of a flexible material that is manufactured from a polymer, choice of which is dependent upon the requirement for peel or seal. Flexible packaging is one of the most innovative fields as one can experiment by mixing plastics in a multiple layer structure with cheap plastic coating outside and stronger one’s inside.

Flexible packaging is encountered by everyone on a daily basis ranging from perishable food packaging to storage packing for preservative foods. Flexible packaging offers for added features in conditions of warm and humid environments. The most common use of flexible packaging has been observed in tropical fruits and vegetable packaging, which helps in keeping the nutritional levels intact and reduces the wastage on the other. This sort of packaging can be used to increase the life of food material by adding more layers to inside packaging or increasing the shell life of packaging material.

The flexible packaging has drastically changed the lifestyle of metropolitan citizens who are short on time when it comes to cooking food as they can now go for packaged and pre-cooked food. The horizon of pre-cooked food and ready-to-eat took a long growth jump with the acceptance of flexible packaging by the consumers. Earlier people were dependent on bottles, glass, plastic, containers, tins and bottles that are now replaced by pouches that were convenient to use.

Another benefits provided by flexible packaging are apt use of material resources, durable, affordable, light weight, attractive design and texture printing and barrier features.

Flexible packaging materials are easy to provide a shape to and can be molded into any structural form as they are manufactured from polyester, paper adhesive, poly films, BOPP and metallic films. A major slack area of flexible packaging faced by companies is the development of a packaging material that provides protection against oxygen, light and air that has still not been conquered by people.

Flexible packaging provides for a shelf life of about a year for most of the food products and uses the so-called ‘High Barrier Materials’ that contains multi-layer structures for protection of food from contaminants. These are made from aluminum foil Sandwiches and laminated by the use of glue and adhesives.

The primary benefit that earned flexible packaging in forms of pouches, a worldwide recognizance is the recycling element offered by them. Though initially, these were under the observation of environmental norms but later, organizations started finding means of recycling them and putting them to alternate uses to ensure they do not add to environmental concern issues.

Thus, flexible packaging gets thumbs up from all parts of the world for being most innovative form of packaging that provides scope for information and awareness to the customers in print form.
